GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY





+ Supervises the front office functions of the medical practice



+ Ensures that patients are greeted promptly and courteously, phones are answered in a professional manner, appointments are scheduled, charts are ready for healthcare providers, billing/collection and related duties are performed, office is clean and organized, supplies are ordered and available, and that all other activities necessary for a successful clinic are performed.













ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:









+ Trains/orients, assigns department staff, evaluates performance, and makes appropriate reprimands to front desk personnel.



+ Supervises staff in greeting all patients in a professional, courteous manner, assisting patients if needed. Gives the same assistance when patients leave.



+ Supervises and performs assigned duties in an efficient and timely manner following the weekly schedule.



+ Supervises and works with staff in processing patient information in the computer.



+ Supervises and works with staff in receiving payment from patients and processing information accurately.



+ Supervises and works with staff in posting payments.



+ Files charts numerically and keeps the charts and files neat and in good repair. Supervises staff who are involved with the filing process.



+ Screens incoming telephone calls for scheduling.



+ Takes messages for prescription refills.



+ Responds to change productively and handles other duties as assigned by Office Coordinator.



+ Assists patients with medical records requests.



+ Enters and scans all referrals and authorizations.



+ Helps with daily closing and balancing of money drawer.



+ Maintains patient records.



+ Other duties as assigned by the Office Coordinator.













QUALIFICATIONS (Required or Preferred)







The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to adequately perform this job. However, an equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the necessary knowledge skills and abilities would be acceptable, subject to any legal and/or regulatory requirements.







Education: High school graduation or equivalent required. Business courses and a working knowledge of computer, business office machines and telephone are preferred.







Experience: Six months to a year of work experience in a service-oriented business.
