Job Description: Shaw has an opening for an experienced Electrical Designer at the Comanche Peak Power Station working in the Nuclear Services Group. The successful candidate should have 10 years experience in the electrical power industry with nuclear experience a plus. An Associates or BET degree is a plus. Certifications in MicroStation and AutoCad is required. Knowledge of generation station electrical distribution stations is plus.
Individual capabilities should include preparation of ability to perform both physical design activities. Physical tasks will include sizing and layout of raceway design of both underground and surface raceways, specifically, duct lines, cable tray and conduit sizing and layout. Other tasks will include grounding and lightning protection layout, cable routing and use of computer based cable routing . Much of the work performed by Shaw is implemented in operating generation stations by use of a station modification program approach so experience in the development of modification packages is required. Must be proficient with computerized cable routing programs. Knowledge of the GENESIS program is a plus.
As much of our work in performed at stations, the individual must be capable of being allowed access to the facility. Oral and written communication skills are necessary as is computer proficiency in programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel and MathCad as well as drafting programs such as Microstation and AutoCad. Assignments at Shaw will require travel and on occasion, site assignments.
The individual should be a self starter who will work independently with minimum supervision, capable of review and checking of vendor drawing submittals for completeness and correctness and research and investigating many layers of drawings/documents/files to solve problems.
