Job Details:
8 West is a 26 bed, HospitalistProgressive Care Unit. The primary diagnoses for this unit includes but is not limited to: COPD, CHF, Cellulitis, Pneumonia, Hypovolemia, Septicemia, and Renal Failure. 8 West follows a progressive team approach to delivering quality care to our patients who are typically adults, 18-64 and geriatric patients 65+ years old that require telemetry monitoring upon admission to the unit. Care is directed by an in house hospitalistwho is available 24/7. In addition to the unit staff, discharge planning needs are supported by a dedicated case manager and social worker. Interdisciplinary meetings are held daily and every member of the staff actively participate in unit based quality teams to promote process improvements
As part of the health care team, assumes primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages. Utilizes delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.
Significant Responsibilities:
Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care in order to achieve optimum patient outcomes for patients of all ages as appropriate to service area.

Minimum Qualifications Required:
Education:
· Graduate of school of professional nursingof an accredited college.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration:
· Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or eligible to sit for the Virginia licensure exam.
· Must obtain/maintain CPR, and possibly ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications based on specific work unit.
Other minimum qualifications:
· Keyboarding skills required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
· Must successfully complete orientation and competency requirements.
· Must be able to meet essential job functions
