Quality and Patient Safety Clinical Specialist: The Quality & Patient Safety Clinical Specialist is the primary site individual responsible to identify quality and patient safety issues and develops interventional strategies which mitigate potential medical errors and improve patient outcomes. The Quality & Patient Safety Clinical Specialist will actively advise and educate associates and the Medical Staff to improve practice habits and documentation to create a safe environment for the patients of Catholic Health.
REPORTS TO: Director for Patient Safety, Catholic Health
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM):
EDUCATION:
· Healthcare related Bachelors Degree Required. Masters Preferred
· NYS License as required to practice in a healthcare field (i.e. Nursing)
EXPERIENCE:
· Three (3) years clinical experience
· Quality & Patient Safety/Performance Improvement experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Must possess strong interpersonal skills necessary to work with medical staff, care management, patient care services, ancillary and support departments
· National Patient Safety initiatives (e.g. JC NPSG''s, IHI, Leapfrog etc.)
· Exposure to heart failure, acute myocardial infarct, pneumonia and surgical care infection prevention indicators
· Strong Organizational and time management skills
· Strong leadership skills
