Job Description:
Inpatient Coder
Reviews, codes and abstracts all inpatient medical records for statistical purposes and hospital reimbursement, using established coding guidelines.
1. Codes inpatient (IP) medical records accurately, completely and timely, according to department standards.
2. Remains abreast of all applicable Federal, State, regulatory and hospital-specific coding guidelines.
3. Participates in Performance Improvement/Quality Assurance activities.
Requirements:
High School diploma required, courses in Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, ICD-9-CM, CPT-4 and Disease Pathology preferred.
Must have minimum of 3 - 6 years acute care coding experience. Working knowledge of encoders and must be computer literate.
CCS License required.
