Job Duties
Within Santander¿s Global Banking & Markets platform, and as part of US Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB), the primary function of the VP-Consumer is to provide support to the Consumer sector Senior Bankers with client management, transaction execution (including lending and advisory) and portfolio management. It is anticipated that the VP-Consumer will have significant client contact, as well as interaction with senior Santander management in the US and Madrid. The VP-Consumer will also to take part in other strategic business activities including industry sector analysis, market analysis, as well as other internal reporting and budget initiatives. US-CIB Consumer¿s team leads client coverage of all of the bank¿s relationships across the US Consumer sector. US CIB operates on a global level to support its clients by delivering banking products in all of Santander¿s global markets.
Support Senior Banker in follow-up on identified cross sale opportunities with clients, including leading coordination of Santander Product and Global Network.
Serve as Senior Banker¿s back-up contact for client needs.
Establish direct dialogue with junior team members on client treasury teams and maintain consistent interaction and dialog.
Attend client meetings when needed.
Lead client presentation preparation, including all background research and analysis, drafting and production of any client marketing materials, pitch books, etc.
Perform client research directed at uncovering opportunities to market bank products, strategic formulation of industry views/ideas, industry peer/comp research, trends and transformational events.
Lead coordination of risk presentations, including transactions and Preclassification presentations, including serving as main point of contact with Risk Department.
Support Product partners and monitor entire execution process for transactions ensuring timely execution and meeting client expectations.
Portfolio management and maintenance of credit files.
Support preparation of budgets/internal reporting/internal presentations
Qualifications
MBA
At least 5 years of experience. 2-4 min years in corporate and/or investment banking
Expertise in PowerPoint and Excel
Strong understanding of corporate finance, banking products and solid financial modeling skills
Strong interpersonal skills; demonstration of poise, composure and confidence in front of clients and Bank senior management.
Team player attitude.
Outstanding presentation skills.
Ability to operate in a fluid, dynamic environment and embrace change.
Fluency in English and Spanish.
Familiarity with Santander network, including regional CIBs and Madrid-Risk.
