Responsible for complete, accurate, timely & properly sequenced coding & abstracting of all inpatient & outpatient records & responsible for running reports from abstracting system. Responsible for DRG assignment & optimization of reimbursement through thorough chart review, coding, & sequencing. Responsible for compliance with state, federal & accrediting agency standards & regulations. Bachelors or Associates degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred. Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification strongly preferred, RHIA or RHIT is preferred. Must have experience in coding using ICD & CPT systems. Prefer experience in health information services & working with physicians. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, internet, e-mail, encoder & other health information applications. Must be efficient & have good organizational abilities to assure work is completed timely. Good communication skills to work with physicians, & various other internal and external staff. Must respect confidentiality & be receptive to change & improvements & respectful of need to be compliant with all internal & external rules & regulations. Be able to sit at long intervals, utilize a computer terminal & concentrate on work.
