SUMMARY:
Office based telephonic medical case management with emphasis on early intervention, return to work planning, coordination of quality medical care on claims involving disability and medical treatment as well as in-house medical reviews as applicable to claim handling laws and regulations. Responsible for helping to ensure injured parties receive appropriate treatment directly related to the compensable injury or assist claim handlers in managing medical treatment to an appropriate resolution.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Contact medical provider and injured parties on claims involving medical treatment and /or disability to coordinate appropriate medical care. Develop medical management strategy and give the provider information necessary to facilitate a return to work plan on claims requiring disability management. Responsible for ongoing evaluation of treatment and return to work plan, within established protocols.
Work with medical providers and suggest cost effective treatment alternatives, when appropriate. Help ensure that all injured parties are on an aggressive treatment plan. Authorize medical treatment and associated diagnostic testing on assigned claims as allowed by state or policy jurisdictions. For nurses handling Workers Compensation Claims, perform Utilization Review according to established guidelines. Utilize physician advisor program.
Proactively manage the medical expenses by partnering with specialty resources to achieve appropriate claim outcomes (SIU, Legal, Risk Control, Disability Management, IME and Peer Review vendors, Major Case, etc.)
Obtain medical records from providers telephonically during initial contact, and follow up with written correspondence if necessary. Discuss medical information and disability status with claim handler and integrate into overall strategy to ensure appropriateness of indemnity payments. Provide technical assistance and act as a resource for claim handling staff.
Contact employer to initiate modified duty or full return to work. Obtain job description and discuss job modifications required to ensure a prompt return to work. Medical Case Manager will work with employer, injured party, provider and claim handler to expedite return to work.
Identify cases requiring task assignments to field case managers, discuss with supervisor for assignment to Medical or Vocational Case Manager, or vendor.
Document all contacts and outcomes related to case activity in system. Submit billing reports on all activities per established guidelines.
Provide feedback to Preferred Provider Network regarding provider nominations and experience with providers.
Comply with established Best Practices
Perform other duties as required.

* Communicate to DM when a therapist after inservicing and mentoring on proper methods, continues to demonstrate inconsistencies in accuracy of minutes.
* Immediately contact DM when a potential or actual compliance issue is identified.
* Be responsible for communication of rehab minutes for MDS entry according to facility protocol.
* Assist DM in the interview process with potential new therapy candidates
* Assist DM with reinforcement of and follow up to orientation for new employees regarding facility systems and MDS process, or other areas as directed by DM
* Be the primary on-site coordinator for billing system issues and ROM completion.

Duties and Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Collect and transmit consumer product data gathered from designated retail stores as assigned by:
* Counting forward reserve inventories
* Reconciling purchases (invoices) against inventories
* Scanning UPC codes via hand-held device
* Collecting display and promotional information
* Inputting product price information
* Collecting and entering custom survey observational data
* Transmitting collected data daily via internet based on the requirements of the collection device
* Plan and organize assigned work within CROSSMARK Retail Data Collection by:
* In-store observation studies
* Training updates
* Task lists
* Store assignments
* Newsletters
* Occasionally downloading and printing forms
* Meet CROSSMARK Retail Data Collection defined standards of work volume, quality, accuracy, cost containment, completeness, and timeliness by:
* Complying with travel and mileage standards established by Retail Data Collection
* Following management and CROSSMARK expectations on cost containment
* Completing assignments and transmitting data according to CROSSMARK s established procedures and deadlines
* Submitting time card and expense information in accordance with CROSSMARK s established procedures and schedules
* Communicate effectively with management and coworkers by:
* Communicating no less than weekly with district management regarding schedules/issues
* Checking email daily for operational updates
* Returning all phone calls within 1 business day and all emails within 2 business days
* Attending all market, team, and other meetings, as required
* Advising management of promotional activity changes within retail outlets
Responsibilities with Regard to Workers Compensation Claims:You are responsible for reporting any employment related injury you incur to your direct supervisor as soon as possible following an incident resulting in an injury.

Education and/or Experience:High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
Physical Demands:While working in retail stores the associate will be required to sit, reach (overhead, under and arms length), bend, climb, kneel stand, squat, walk on flat surface, lift up to 30 lbs., change position, and handle and carry a 2 lb. device for a prolonged period of time. Counting reserve stock in cooloers/freezers may be required.
Specific Skills:
* Complete Causal/Survey and PCT Skills Assessment Qualification Exercise within four (4) weeks of hire.
* Complete Audit Skills Assessment Qualification Exercise within eight (8) weeks of hire. (Approximately 160 hours of training.)
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Good organizational skills.
* Attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently while following directions.
* Proficient in basic PC skills.
* Must have reliable transportation, valid driver s license, and auto insurance.
* Must keep driver s license and insurance information current.
