Description: Electro-Motive Diesel is owned by Progress Rail, a Caterpillar Company. EMD is the world''s largest developer and manufacturer of locomotives for freight, intercity passenger, commuter, switching, industrial and mining customers. EMD also designs, develops and manufactures engines and generators for marine applications, offshore and land-based drilling rigs and stationary power units.
Duties: Will be responsible for diesel and gas engine component design, prototype development, testing, and manufacturing support.
? Experience with alternative fuels, particularly with systems integration surrounding natural gas a strong plus.
? Must be able to work in cross-functional teams, and coordinate with internal departments as well as outside suppliers.
? Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently with little supervision on complex design analyses.
? Strong interpersonal skills are essential to effectively communicate with co-workers and senior management.
? Job requires strong written skills to provide technical reports and operating procedures.
? Able to identify customer field failures and provide timely and cost effective solutions.
? Candidate must be able to prepare, manage, and track project budgets.
Qualifications Required: ?Minimum BS in Mechanical Engineering ? preferred advanced mechanical engineering degree.
?Experience with mechanical, electrical and control system level integration in complex highly engineered products.
?Ability to make sketches read engineering drawings and conduct common engineering mechanical and engine performance computations
?Must be familiar with basic machining tools and manufacturing processes
?Have knowledge of engineering theory and principles related to engine mechanical design and performance
?High level of oral and written skills
?Willing to travel as required, up to 30%
Qualifications: Qualifications Preferred: ?Five or more years of experience in diesel engine design/performance
?Experience with natural gas combustion systems
