Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
This Computer Technician position is to provide technical support to our stores and corporate users as part of the Computer Hardware Support team. The selected person will be an integral part of the team. Someone with an positive / can do work attitude, is flexible, energetic, hard working, well-organized, knowledgeable, accurate, reliable, independent, a self-motivated person that is willing and eager to take on challenges and responsibilities.
This position performs a wide variety of IT support duties for our stores, corporate users, department managers, other department team members. The position will exhibit a high degree of professionalism, ability to handle multiple changing priorities, and effectively communicate with support vendors and company Team Members on a daily basis.
This is a full-time position. Hours worked are as follows: Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:00pm. Saturday shifts (7:30am-5:00pm) are assigned on a rotation basis and dependent on business needs for store and corporate user support levels. NOTE: Hours may be adjusted per your supervisor’s request or per the needs of the company and/or related workload.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Production Issues:
* Willingness to learn new software
* Willingness to learn new computer skills
* Must have working knowledge of computers and their operating systems
* Understand configuration and installation of computers and peripherals
* Understand mobile technologies and equipment such as smartphones and tablets
* Troubleshoot basic network related issues
* Repair and maintenance of company owned computers and peripherals
* Provide hardware and software support and technical assistance to other company Team Members via e-mail, telephone or in person
* Ensure consistent implementation of processes:
* Installation of new or replacement equipment
* De-installation of existing equipment
* Perform initial test processes for boot-up and image load
* Perform generic and basic tests on connectivity and application launches
* Identify and document issues
* Travel to store and corporate locations to perform prescribed installations or maintenance on assigned equipment - a company vehicle will be provided for store travels
* Submit required travel paperwork
* Perform quarterly preventive maintenance on all computer equipment at assigned store and corporate locations.
* Ability to work with hand tools and test sets
* Keep work areas clean and organized
* And other duties as requested or required
* Computer Technicians typically work a 48 plus hour week; overtime pays time and a half
Skills/Requirements
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and abilities:
* A Two Year Technical Degree or service experience in Computer Hardware, Computer Networking, Management Information Systems, Computer Repair, or Computer Science
* Minimum of 2 years related experience including:
Installation, Repair, Upgrading, and Troubleshooting computer equipment
* Must have experience with computer hardware installation and troubleshooting for PCs, peripherals, and servers
* Experience with mobile technology such as smartphones and tablets a plus
* Strong working knowledge of WIN95, WIN98, WIN NT, WIN 2000, WIN XP, WIN 7
* Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
* Network / Client-Server experience preferred
* Some experience with configuring routers, switches and hubs preferred
* Any computer equipment manufacturer certifications are a plus
* A+ or Network+ certification are a plus
* Experience with various printer types (impact, inkjet, or laser)

* You must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
* Technicians should expect to work a 12-hour day (may start as early as 6 am) when traveling to stores
* Must be available to work nights and weekends including Sunday, if needed
* Provide numbers (i.e. home phone / cell phone) for which you can be easily and quickly reachable
* Must carry our on-call cellular phone on a rotating schedule (1 week duration)
