JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provides functions within scope of practice as defined by the Colorado Board of Nursing. May also perform functions delegated by the RN. The Nursing Assistant may provide care to groups of patients or serve as a Patient Safety Attendant for 1-2 patients based on assignment by the charge nurse. The Nursing Assistant works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. " Collects, reports, and records basic objective and subjective data. " Observes and reports changes in signs and symptoms or deviations from normal health status. " Provides basic information which assists the licensed nurse in making lists of problems and needs, setting goals, and developing and revising the plan of care.. " Provides total personal care or assists patients with Activities of Daily Living. " Provides physical care, comfort measures, and emotional support to patients whose conditions are stable or predictable. " Assists with basic restorative nursing.. " Repeats patient teaching instructions as given by the RN. " Documents and communicates completion of assigned duties and patient responses. " Assists with admission and discharge of patients. " Performs CPR when necessary. " Follows principles of asepsis and infection control. " Maintains clean unit, work space, and patient's environment per regulatory and hospital requirements. " Communicates with all members of the healthcare team and patients and families, both in-person and via telephone. " Receives delegation from RN. " Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intra-departmentally to facilitate that department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful completion of one of the following courses of study/ programs: " Approved Nurse Aide Training Program " Completion of Fundamentals at an approved School of Nursing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification- required Certified as Nurse Aide in the state of Colorado-required
