The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, is seeking applications for the Associate Vice President of Facilities and Engineering. This role will systematically plan for the physical development and maintenance of the campus in an effective and efficient manner in support of the mission of the Citadel. This position coordinates with the State Commission on Higher Education, State Department of Environmental Health and Control, and other Federal, State, and local governmental bodies on matters associated with safety, environmental concerns, insurance, disaster relief, energy management, waste management, facility operations, and construction. The AVPFE plans, supervises, directs, coordinates, and controls activities of the Physical Plant; is responsible for managing residential housing on campus; and administers safety and disaster preparedness programs.
This role serves as support to the Executive Vice President on the Strategic Planning Committee of the Citadel. The Associate Vice President provides input to the Executive Vice President to assist in developing both the strategic vision and the supporting goals of the College.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
A minimum of five years of experience in managing Facilities operations in a higher educational setting or comparable work environment is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Architecture, Urban Planning, or related field is preferred.
Additional Comments:
The Associate Vice Presidential reports to the Executive Vice President in a highly visible arena within and outside of the Citadel. May require overnight travel and weekend work.
