Title: SQL Server DBA
Location: OH-Columbus
This position is for a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator responsible for the support and maintenance of all corporate SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 databases. This includes the design and implementation of High Availability solutions including backup and recovery, leading performance tuning activities to maintain high service levels and system performance, capacity planning and management reporting about the health of the database environments. Work closely with all functional groups to assure a smooth implementation and to insure compliance with all corporate adopted system standards and directions. Provide technical support to application development teams and Database Architecture as part of database development projects. Responsible for ensuring databases meet security best practices including SOX and PCI compliance. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as an effective team member. Requires 24/7 on-call duty rotation with other members of the team.
Responsibilities:
.Complete platform upgrades, migrations, quarterly patching, monitor performance, and coordinate actions with team members
.Responsible for providing day-to-day activities, including, but not limited to; backup, restore, performance tuning, security management, capacity planning, standards development and enforcement
.Responsible for investigating potential problems and issues raised by business users; this includes being on a on-call rotation
.Monitor database events and proactively optimize system performance
.Work with the team to automate reactive procedures where possible, and to promote rapid response to known issues
.Work in conjunction with other IT, application development, and business groups to understand functionality, scalability, performance, security, and integration requirements from the database perspective
.Develop and maintain an in depth understanding of the database architecture and the general application functionality used to maintain data integrity
.Provide a high level of customer satisfaction through the effective delivery of technical support and service
.BS in Computer Science or related field
.2-5 years experience in Microsoft SQL Server Administration in large multi-server database environment
.Experience in architecting, configuring and maintaining highly scalable environments required
. Must have good written and verbal communication skills, and interface directly with program development and management
.Experience and a strong understanding of server and client software
.Excellent documentation and technical writing skills
.Experience with VMWare a plus
.Microsoft Certification a plus
.Experience with Oracle and DB2 RDBMS a plus
