Executive Director

Job title: Executive Director                              
Reports to: Board of Directors
Education Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree
Status: Exempt position

The Bright Lights executive director:
•      Ensures that Bright Lights achieves its mission through short and long term strategies
•      Provides leadership in developing program, fundraising through grants or special events and organizational plans
•      Develops policies and organizational business objectives, with input from Board of Directors and Strategic Plan, by performing the following duties personally or through delegation

•      Represent Bright Lights in a positive and professional manner when participating in public relations activities
•      Responsible for overall financial condition of the organization such as reporting, quarterly statements, budgets, payroll, etc.
Fund Development
•      Direct and coordinate formulation of financial programs to provide funding for new or continuing operations and scholarships
•      Develop and submit grant proposals for funds from private foundations, corporations, and government agencies
•      Establish positive relationships with individual donors, private and corporation funders and government agencies
•      Plan, organize, and direct all ongoing and special project funding programs
•      Primary Administrator on site during the summer program
•      Prepare strategic plan with short and long term goals to meet funding objectives, program objectives and overall mission of Bright Lights
•      Interview, hire and annually evaluate staff – teachers, summer and office.
•      Update office materials annually including the handbook, policies and summary safety manual
•      Facilitate communication between office staff, committee chairs/meetings and board
•      Work directly with the Board of Directors and Committees – attends meetings, prepares reports and communicates results
•      Plan and prepare Board meeting with Board President
•      Facilitate brochures and marketing material
Hours and Salary
•      Variable hours

•      Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•      Ability to organize, supervise and delegate staff and volunteers
•      Leadership skills, including experience with coaching and mentoring, teamwork skills with staff, volunteers and board
•      Financial/budget expertise
•      Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work and communicate with all ages
•      Microsoft Office and QuickBooks expertise
•      Non- profit experience desirable
•      Ability to perform physical tasks associated with setting up Bright Lights summer program facility, including lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds
