JOB SUMMARY:
Design Dept support of current production, designing/developing mechanical and electrical system solutions, cost-out and test activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
. Design, development or problem solving of various mechanical or electrical systems. This includes structural weldments and components, frames, steering/suspension, axle brackets, drivelines attachments, seating, roll cages, body panels and fascias, electrical control/drive systems and wire harnesses.
. Some electrical design may be required for integration and system development of electro-mechanical systems.
. Leads project elements and maintains frequent contact with other functional areas, contract engineering services and suppliers
. Develop Timelines in support of Project milestones.
. Revise/review and create Functional Specifications.
. Revise/review and create Engineering Design Standards
. Develop Design Packaging Layouts.
. Conduct DFMEA and create test and analysis plans for Product Validation.
. Perform Tolerance Studies on Components and Assemblies.
. Development and Release of Engineering BOMs, Component and Assembly Drawings.
. Incorporate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) on Engineering Drawings.
. Resolve Test Issues and Document Through the use of the PDCA Process.
. Perform cross functional design reviews and Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Assessments on Components & Assemblies.
. Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on Components & Assemblies for stress, thermal etc.
. Follow E-Z-GO product development process and methods for tracking project status and open issues.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
. Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from ABET accredited 4-year program.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
. Strong communication and presentation skills.
. Proficiency in usage of CAD and Product Life Cycle tools.
. Knowledge of basic vehicle electrical systems
. Knowledge of plastic material properties and manufacturing processes is a plus.
. Experience with vehicle powertrain and/or steering/suspension is also a plus
. Possesses and demonstrates skills to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
. Possesses and demonstrates a frequent use and application of engineering principles theories, concepts and techniques.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
. Must be able to read part and assembly blueprints, some knowledge of GD&T.
. Exposure to metal processing, design for manufacturability to include tooling and equipment, quality processes, and costs estimating.
. MRP or ERP experience preferred.
. Teamcenter or other CAD database tools
. Visual Basic or other programming languages
. Engineering analysis software, such as Matlab
. Microsoft office products
