2. Solutions design and development experience, primarily in the database area.
3. General Data Modeling skills. ERwin knowledge preferred.
4. Understanding of DDL (data definition language, such as CREATE TABLE) and DDL production deployment issues
5. Communication skills are also important, as the Data Architect would have to establish relationship with business representatives for his vertical.
Provides database solutions for structured corporate data management including data acquisition, classification, storage, access, actualization and documentation. Provides strategic and tactical management for data access and development tools. Drives database-related aspects of the project design.
Strategic Roadmap
o Work with the overall Enterprise Architecture team to define the future state architecture vision for the organization
o Conduct in-depth analysis of enterprise data and information architecture including analysis of business interactions with data, working with key business contacts as needed
o Provide the strategic technology direction and roadmaps for both structured and unstructured data throughout the enterprise
o Develop an overall data infrastructure model and data management structure to address identified and potential organizational needs
o Oversee creation of enterprise-level information/data standards and governance processes
o Maintenance of the overall current state and data inventory for the enterprise
o Selection of capabilities and systems to meet business information needs
o Development and/or refinement of business intelligence strategies used throughout the enterprise
o Provide information architecture oversight of key bank-wide projects
Infrastructure - Hardware / Database
o Participates and contributes in strategic database hardware platform evaluation, design, review and decisions
o Participates in strategic decisions for recommendations for Database Instance creation and designation of applications / subject areas to specific instances
Delivery - Data Governance
o Provides data quality and consistency standards
o Drives creation and maintenance of the Enterprise Metadata Standards and Repository
o Proposes measures to preserve data integrity, quality and security
o Participates in vendor communication to designate exchange formats (files, XML, etc.), content, attribute selection, and data scenarios
Delivery - Enterprise Data Model
o Ensures consistency in Enterprise Schema across all applications
o Conducts high-level design and ER diagram reviews for data architecture gold branded projects
o Provides analysis and recommendations for logical isolation of application-dependent data (a.k.a. Application Separation) for data architecture gold/silver projects
o Contributes to and enforces design standards and quality for data architecture gold/silver projects
o Contributes to and enforces naming standards for all data-related objects though data model reviews for data architecture gold/silver projects
o Identifies subject areas, major entities, relationships and key attributes
o Identifies / approves schema and other non-standard accounts creation.

o Recommends standard and project-specific data types
o Makes table partitioning decisions taking into consideration ILM and project performance consideration
o Sets policies for constraints and indexes creation
o Provides specific solutions for security requirements implementation
Delivery - Development
o Provides data mapping flows for data architecture gold/silver branded projects.
o Sets ETL and database-related development and naming standards
o Provides recommendations and enforces ETL infrastructure standards
o Recommends database development and ETL tools for specific projects
o Provides assistance in ETL, PL/SQL code and SQL query tuning
o Oversees development of common utilities and APIs to support common development frameworks.
o Responsible for the development of and maintenance of ETL frameworks to support development needs
