One-Year Appointment: Lecturer I (Criminal Justice/CLA)

# Scope of Job
The Department of Criminal Justice at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) occasionally has the need to hire One-Year Lecturer to teach in its Bachelor of Science program. Responsibilities include delivering quality instruction in the program and participating in activities serving the department, college, university or local community as needed. Position will require teaching courses in a traditional classroom (i.e., face-to-face) and may also involve some teaching online.
UTRGV faculty are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success and to advancing the university, college, and program missions, as well as a commitment to UTRGV's vision, mission and core priorities (-plan/strategic-plan/index.htm).
# Minimum Qualifications
The minimum qualifications for a one-year appointment are 1) demonstrated potential for teaching excellence and 2) a master's/doctorate degree in Criminal Justice/Criminology or a related field of study from an accredited institution (inclusive of a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in criminal justice/criminology).
# Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
The department is particularly interested in collegial applicants with expertise in at least one of the following fields: law enforcement, law, criminal courts, corrections, juvenile justice, research methods, and statistics.
# Preferred Qualification
Teaching and/or field experience are desirable, as is the ability to use technology to support teaching and learning. Preference will also be afforded to generalists who are capable of teaching in a diversity of core areas (e.g., corrections, courts, law enforcement).
# Salary
One-Year Lecturers are paid a 9-month academic rate commensurate with experience and/or qualification in the discipline.
