Danaher Specialty Products is seeking an experienced Health and Safety professional to lead the Safety and Environmental initiatives regionally in its Elizabethtown, North Carolina facility. The Senior Health and Safety Specialist will ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement of safety and environmental metrics including, accident investigation, workers compensation, electrical safety, machine guarding, chemical management, environmental reporting and hazardous waste activities. This is a visible leadership position in a fast paced and changing environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Lead, coordinate and ensure compliance with Safety program requirements
* Drive proactive EHS activities
* Assist with environmental permits, certifications and registrations (NPDES, Stormwater, Air, Wastewater, Hazardous Waste)
* Provide back up for Environmental Engineer and assist with EHS reports (EPCRA, Hazardous Waste, Remediation)
* Manage workers compensation claims
* Champion waste reduction initiatives
* Implement industrial hygiene and safety engineering into manufacturing processes
* Coordinate emergency preparedness activities
* Develop and implement corrective action plans using DBS tools
* Lead and coordinate Safety, Environmental and Risk Management activities
* Drive safety and environmental improvements utilizing Safety Committee
* Determine and implement required and proactive EHS training
* Assure compliance with property insurance recommendations
* Write and update required programs including: Confined Space, Haz Com, Hearing Conservation, Forktruck, Machine Guarding, Emergency, Bloodborne Pathogen, Crane, Respiratory Protection, PPE
* Develop and report safety and environmental metrics
* Conduct audits and implement action plans
* Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Environment or Engineering
* Track record of reducing injuries and improving safety practices
* Minimum of 5 years related Health & Safety experience
* Analytical ability
* Ability to influence without direct reports
* Demonstrated use of Excel, Word, Access
* Excellent teamwork and communication skills
* Effective Time Management and Personal Organization
* Experience with LQG, Air Permit, Stormwater Permit
* Safety Designations (ASP, CSP, CHMM or equivalent)
* Post Closure Care Permit experience preferred
* NC Wastewater license preferred
