IT Business Analyst
Adecco Engineering and Technical, a division of the world leader in the recruitment of engineering and information technology professionals, has an immediate opening for an IT Business Analyst on a CONTRACT opportunity with a leading Bank in Wilson, NC.
Job Description:
This role will be responsible for developing, running and preparing various statistical analyses and reports based on data from a variety of sources. This position will utilize data from various software packages such as System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Configuration Management Database (CMDB), and HP Service Manager (HPSM). The job requires excellent time management and organizational skills because most activities need to be completed on a specific schedule, but also the flexibility to respond to requests for information or action with a short turn around time.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Develop Ad hoc, and/or scheduling of new reports, and revise current reports requested via Customer Service Requests (CSR) generated through HP Service Manager.
Work with the client in gathering their requirements needed to develop reports and/or the revision of existing reports.
Ensure distributed results are consistent, reliable and accurate through aggressive testing and quality control efforts.
Assist in maintaining and improving the automation of existing reports (distributed and mainframe)
Recommend process, support and technology improvements (tools, reports and methodologies) related to reporting support activities
Assist in developing and maintaining standards and controls, and best practices for administration, operation, including the scheduling, running, monitoring, logging, management of errors, recovery from failures, and validation of outputs.
Update and maintain report documentation to reflect changes implemented
Analyze poor performing reports to diagnose issues and provide solutions to increase end-user productivity
Implement approved support recommendations and track the progress against projected improvement
Design reports in a manner so that they can be reused.
Work with clients in guiding them through the process of understanding the standards and controls that are put in place.
Issue reports on IT service area performance
Provide monthly status of the number (and name) of reports implemented
Provide monthly status of number (and name) updated reports completed
Additional duties as may be assigned
Skill Sets
Proficient in performing data analysis and developing database reports using Microsoft SQL Server, Business Objects and Crystal Reports.
Proficient in using Oracle, MS SQL Server, SQL: Understand SQL Procedures.
Strong experience with HP Service Manager back-end database structure and table joins (Oracle 10g database). Knowledge of HPSM database field types, field joins and field limitations (Date/Time fields, String fields, BLOB fields, etc.) as well as developing querys against these tables.
Knowledge of relational and dimensional database design concepts
Ability to translate business needs into clear, concise requirements into report development.
Be able to write complex sub-queries and multi table joins
Data Modeling
Must be a Self-starter, Team-oriented, Analytical, Logical thinking, and have Problem-solving skills.
