We are currently looking for a Civil Materials Laboratory Technician to join our Lethbridge laboratory. This is your opportunity to work and grow your career with world-class engineers and scientists dedicated to working on civil engineering projects, from conceptual design to construction reporting. On occasion your expertise may be needed by our parent company Tetra Tech on some of their challenging international projects.
o Assisting in the daily operations of the laboratory and to perform testing on asphalt, concrete, soils and reporting required for quality control of material testing
o Performing standard testing procedures to analyze components and physical properties of materials
o Monitoring and analyze test information to aid in maintaining equipment operating consistency
o Working to achieve results within conformance of test specifications
o Coordinating job specific testing requirements with 3rd party testing firms
o Maintaining lab equipment in working order
o Ensuring all lab testing, reporting, and procedures are in accordance with company program requirements as trained
o Performing other related duties as assigned by the Manager
o A minimum of an engineering technology diploma is required
o 2 - 4 years of experience
o Some related industry experience in quality assurance / control for field and laboratory testing, preferably in the consulting sector would be considered an asset
o Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) is required
o Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
o Strong people skills and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
o Good time management skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and a team player attitude are essential
o Experience dealing with contractors and municipal design consultants would be beneficial
o Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's License would be considered an asset
o Must be physically capable of performing the manual labour duties required including: carrying and lifting heavy materials
