We are currently seeking a Turnaround Lead Planner / Scheduler.

The Joffre Site Turnaround Team provides turnaround planning and execution expertise, leadership, and coaching to leadership and employees to ensure the safe and efficient inspection and maintenance and improvements of the facility during scheduled turnarounds. Specifically, the Team guides, advises and maintains NOVA's Turnaround management system for the Joffre site. The team also leads the planning and execution of the individual plant turnarounds in accordance with the established practices and procedures as set forth in the Joffre site turnaround manual.


As a member of this team, your responsibilities during planning, execution and post-work phases of the turnaround will be:

+ Work as a member of the turnaround core team and have joint accountability for meeting the established turnaround milestones.

+ Accountable to maintain all aspects of the scope list

+ Have accountability to lead the planning organization and report on the planning process and progress.

+ Accountable to ensure all aspects of the job plan are developed to NOVA turnaround standards and procedures

+ Responsible to ensure contractor resource requirements are identified and communicated to the turnaround manager and purchasing team.

+ Apply project management principles in the development of the turnaround schedule

+ Deliberate collaboration with other work groups across NOVA Chemicals (i.e. Capital, Accounting, Engineering, Purchasing) to ensure seamless turnaround integration and achievement of execution goals.


The successful candidate will have a 2 year technical school diploma with 10+ years of related experience or a combination of 12+ year's post-secondary technical education (including Journeyman ticket or steam tickets) and related experience. The following attributes and experience is required:

+ Proven capacity to create and maintain complex schedules

+ Above average knowledge of the following SAP modules: PM, MM, PS, FICO

+ Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or leadership role (i.e. DWTC, Tech Leader, PC, etc)

+ High level understanding of plant system processes

+ Proven ability to lead, develop and implement improvement strategies

+ Be deliberately inclusive and inspire others to think big

+ Challenge assumptions and explore options widely

+ Ability to engage across boundaries during complex troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives

Ideally, the successful candidate will also have the following skills and experience:

+ Project management experience

+ Capable of assessing progress with regard to objectives

+ Turnaround experience

+ Experience mentoring others
