The Immunology & Inflammation department is seeking a talented and innovative Scientist III to join our Ridgefield, CT Research team.
As a Scienist III, you will design and execute non-routine experiments on the basis of literature analyses generally without supervision. Train technicians and junior scientist in all areas of laboratory operations. Assume departmental responsibility for discovery or development projects, if needed. Perform all work in conformance with applicable regulation. Perform all work in a safe manner. The primary scope of responsibility is within the immediate discipline and secondarily within a multi-disciplinary environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:
* Initiates, designs, interprets accurately, troubleshoots and completes routine procedures independently and efficiently independently or with minimal guidance; initiates, designs, interprets accurately, troubleshoots and completes non-routine and difficult procedures generally without supervision; Conducts exploratory experiments
* Proposes, gains support for and implements ideas from individual's knowledge of science and technology and understanding of drug discovery process
* Proposes, evaluates and implements new technologies; independently applies basic scientific principles, performs literature searches, attends scientific meetings, and keeps abreast of literature in own field
* Effectively communicates and defends own work, orally and in writing, in the context of the team goals at meetings
* Demonstrates a solid level of technical proficiency in field; trains technicians and junior level scientists in this field
* Reports and treats data with a high level of integrity and ethics
* Complies with applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies
* Participate in cross departmental project teams when assigned
Requirements:
* Master's Degree in Immunology, Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline with 3 years of relevant lab research experience or Bachelor's degree in Immunology, Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline with 7 years relevant lab research experience
* Advanced training in the area of technical expertise. Demonstrated hands-on experience with cellular and molecular biology techniques including isolation and culture of cell lines and primary cells (immune cells of high interest), experience with multi-cellular assays highly desired, transfections, RNAi (siRNA and shRNA), DNA/RNA/qRT-PCR, flow cytometry, ELISA (MSD etc), Western blots, functional assays (e.g. chemotaxis, proliferation, apoptosis, calcium mobilization, binding, enzyme, etc.). In vivo and ex vivo experience highly desired.
* Ability to design, develop, troubleshoot and perform experiments, to identify and to implement appropriate technologies to address relevant scientific questions, to interpret results, to perform literature searches, to work with automation equipment when necessary in an independent manner (or with minimal supervision). Ability to multitask and to prioritize.
* Ability to operate laboratory equipment with independence
* Ability to draft technical reports
* Concise and accurate reporting of technical data and interpretation thereof
* Proven problem solving ability
* Appropriate level of understanding of applicable regulations
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfort in participating in a fast-paced team environment
* Conduct work in a safe manner and comply with all mandated guidelines and policies.
* Working knowledge of computer software including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Act as a leader in absence of supervisor
* Appropriate level of understanding of applicable regulations
