Job Description Content Network Services - SAW (Secure Architecture Web) is responsible for technology strategy, management, architecture, and technical operations as they relate to internet & 3rd party connectivity and application delivery for ESPN. SAW provides the design of scalable and robust connectivity solutions as well as the implementation and continued support of various IT services including but not limited to web proxy, anti-spam, client and business remote access, internet-facing dns, application load balancing, and automated file transfer services.
The potential candidate will work as part of a team responsible for the design, implementation and support of secure connectivity solutions to and from corporate / dmz resources and 3rd parties, as well as the maintenance and upkeep of the infrastructure that supports this connectivity. These solutions are integrated into an intricate network where security, scalability, and uptime are of the utmost importance.
The potential candidate will also be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of all hardware and software contained within this infrastructure. Participation in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure will be necessary.
This position is also responsible for the overnight technical support of all systems, including routine maintenance and other operational duties that will ensure all systems are running optimally. The position will operate from within a 24x7 Support Operation Center.
Additionally, they will also work under general supervision with few direct instructions in administering and managing network infrastructure, monitoring tools and security systems. Contact with others externally is expected with vendors, and internally across the IT department and with our customers as needed.
Finally, the Systems Administrator will proactively manage the network infrastructure through best monitoring practices and will ensure ultimate uptime and system reliability. Documenting the current network topology and keeping up-to-date diagrams is critical in maintaining and managing the network environment.

Basic Qualifications . Minimum of 4 years of experience with network systems or in a related IT subject matter field.
. Solid networking knowledge with a focus on design techniques and troubleshooting best practices.
. Good understanding of differences and functionality of various LAN and WAN technologies.
. Comfortable with various routing protocols.
. Solid understanding of IP addressing and subnetting.
. Understands the basic concepts of routing/switching technologies with a focus on network security.
. Can interact and communicate effectively with other staff.
. Experience with enterprise operating systems including Microsoft Windows and Linux.
. Good judgment, problem resolution, team building and decision-making skills.
. Superb written and verbal communications skills.
. Lead and completes tasks independently, with attention to detail and while under pressure.
. Good documentation and organizational skills.
. Basic understanding of IT Security best practices.
. Identifies, analyses, and drives problems to resolution, handling complex issues simultaneously while effectively communicating across teams.

. Effectively tracks and communicates technical actions, ensures audience understands why/what/when work will be accomplished.

. Basic understanding of packet capture and network troubleshooting concepts.
. Experience and/or basic understanding of VPN technologies, DNS, load balancers, and web proxies.
Required Education Associates degree or higher in computer science and/or comparable on the job experience in technical operations or network administration.
