Advance Auto Parts What is an Assistant General Manager? At Advance Auto Parts, the Assistant General Manager is a key member of the stores leadership team. Each Assistant General Manager must be knowledgeable of all facets of the store and be committed to working closely with the General Manager to inspire our team, help our customers succeed, and grow the business and profitability with integrity. Key Duties and Responsibilities The AGM is responsible for working with the General Manager to manage all facets of the store business Consistently grow the business by exceeding all sales and profit targets, and managing payroll in conformity with company strategy and core values Monitor and manage inventory to ensure maximum profitability and product availability Create an effective work schedule that ensures appropriate coverage to improve results and provide high levels of customer service Maintain high standards of customer service, including prompt handling of all customer and Team Member concerns Maintain security and safety throughout the store at all times Maintain store appearance and merchandising at or above established standards Select, train, develop and retain quality Team Members; effectively coach team to full potential Ensure management team values diversity and supports a fair and respectful environment for both Team Members and customers; including high performance, recognition, candid feedback and rewards for performance exists on their team Demonstrate an eagerness to be a team player and assist in other functions as assigned and as needed, including, but not limited to: cleaning, organizing, stocking, operating POS equipment, truck loadingunloading, etc. Essential Job Skills Necessary for Success as an Assistant General Manager Working knowledge of automotive systems preferred Speak and write English (Spanish a plus); communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers, peers and upper management Use Microsoft software effectively (Word, Excel required PowerPoint preferred) Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, sales increases, and gross profit percent Ability to review and analyze business reports, such as profit and loss statement (P L) Hold others accountable, inspect work quality and give feedback in a way that is inspiring Ability to work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed Prior Experiences that Set an Assistant General Manager up for Success 2-3 years experience managing a team of 10 20 Team Members in a fast-paced and highly dynamic retail environment 070111 Successful experience managing profitability; proven financial and business acumen Education High school diploma or general education degree (GED), Bachelors degree in business or a related area preferred Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Must have a valid drivers license and be fleet safety certified ASE certification preferred, but not required Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
