Job Description
Rackspace''s Network Operations team consists of diverse, upbeat, creative, team-oriented Engineers who are responsible for monitoring, managing, and troubleshooting one of the most challenging networks around. The Network Operations Manager position will be based in our Network Operations Center in Ashburn, VA.
Key responsibilities:
, Lead a team in support of the urgent response and resolution of problems, monitoring and maintain uptime, reliability and performance of Data Center networks, and providing internal and external customer service
, Provides technical support to various users, departments and providers with regards to the LAN/WAN
, Serve in a supervisory role and be responsible for operational decisions
, Motivating and mentoring Rackers, creating personal development plans, and creating a world class team
, Reporting and escalation of incidents, impact and resolution
Key Accountabilities
, 100% uptime on network availability
, Ensure adequate coverage is maintained on site by managing the team,s holiday and training plans and ensuring the team scales with the business
, Incidents are detected and resolved in a timely manner
, A focus on continuous improvement of operational policies, practices and tools
, Team performance and precision of highly critical functions that keep the networks up and running
, Regular face to face meetings are held with all the Network Operations team members to make sure personal development plans exists and are followed and to provide guidance and advice on performance and personal development/career advance
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
, Intermediate knowledge of operations, engineering, configuration, maintenance and upgrade of the local area network (LAN) and/or wide area network (WAN).
, Intermediate knowledge of Cisco hardware and IOS.
, Intermediate knowledge of servers, switches, routers, and various network services.
, Advanced knowledge of network operations.
, Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
, Ability to make appropriate decisions considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions.
, Ability to apply varying leadership skills and traits that create solutions and results to unexpected situations.
, Ability to successfully work and promote inclusiveness in small groups.
, Ability to provide FANATICAL support.
