Total Medical Cost Analyst (Informatics Senior Specialist)- Moun

**Description:**

**Role Description:**

Supports the total medical cost position of assigned markets through analysis/development of high level medical expense reports, detailed data drill downs of trend drivers, and execution of identified key initiatives designed to address medical expense trend. Partners with network management, medical management, and sales units to deliver medical expense results in line with trend/cost expectations to ensure strong competitive positioning within the marketplace.

**Responsibilities:**

oMonthly/Quarterly production of key medical expense reports for assigned markets, as well as national/regional as needed.

oUnderstand and present medical cost results to key matrix partners at various levels of the organization.

oDeliver drill-down analytics in a proactive and timely manner based on emerging results.

oProactively identify affordability challenges and potential mitigating actions.

oInfluence adoption of key cost-saving initiatives by matrix partners.

oCoordinate follow through for initiative execution.

oMaintain current tracking of market initiatives.

oSupport matrix partners on an ad hoc basis as needed to support various integral business needs.

oMaintain strong communication with other TMC analysts to identify new opportunities and share best practices.

oMentor/train matrix partners and junior analysts.

oSupport local market affordability initiative through scorecard production and drill-down analysis.

**Qualifications:**

oBachelor's degree strongly preferred in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Health Policy Analysis, or Finance. Master's degree preferred.

o5 years of experience with health care analysis strongly preferred. Experience with medical cost trend analysis and/or health care provider contract analysis preferred.

oStrong analytical and problem solving skills with a proven track record of success.

oAbility to independently perform data analysis while managing multiple projects and meeting strict deadlines.

oStrong ability to validate and interpret results.

oAbility to influence and drive strategic planning, action plan development, and execution of plans through engagement of matrix partners, education on key drivers and actionable levers, and thorough understanding of market-level dynamics.

oStrong communication skills to include written, oral, and group presentation.

oUnderstanding of managed care business processes, data, systems, and applications for claims payment, enrollment, benefit design, and utilization management.

oTechnical sophistication with various data mining and business intelligence tools such as SAS, SQL, Microsoft Access, COGNOS Powerplay, Impromptu, or similar products, advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Computer programming language expertise preferred.

oKnowledge of standard medical coding including CPT-IV, ICD-10, and HCPCS.
