At Yahoo!'s Champaign, IL office we are currently looking for a
talented and motivated software engineer to join us.
Job Roles and Responsibilities
In this position, you will work on the Yahoo! data processing
infrastructure. Challenges of the job include designing and implementing
high-performance algorithms that can scale to handle petabytes of data.
Our environment runs within the Yahoo!'s Hadoop Grid using both Java
Map/Reduce and PIG languages as well as Perl scripting. We also populate
and maintain large scale Oracle databases.
As part of the Champaign team, your responsibilities will include:
Designing, implementing, testing, and deploying new data
processing algorithms according to requirements specifications
* Investigating and comparing
infrastructural changes for improved performance and data throughput
* Designing database schemas and
reports used to meet our ongoing business demands
Job Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must meet these minimum
job qualifications:
* BS/MS in Computer Science or
equivalent
* Strong skills with Java, Object
Oriented Programming
* Knowledge of SQL and relational
databases
* Experience using UNIX/Linux
systems
* Solid written and verbal
communication skills
* Strong analytical skills
* Experience debugging software
* Excellent team working capability
In addition, the ideal candidate
will have additional qualifications such as:
* Experience developing Perl and/or
Shell scripts
* Experience with Cloud Computing, Hadoop, and Big Data
Processing
* Experience developing Perl and/or
Shell script
* Deep knowledge of UNIX/Linux
systems
* Deep experience with RDBMS
systems
* Experience with Software
Configuration Management systems
* Experience with Software Test or
Validation systems
