Job Description Pharmacy Benefit Supervisors have direct reports and provide first-line supervision of associates who analyze, design, implement, and maintain key elements of the customer benefit structure. They provide oversight to customer accounts and ensure customer expectations and service level agreements are met by their assigned staff members. They direct and oversee day-to-day work activities and are responsible for the activities and results of their staff. Pharmacy Benefit Supervisors establish work priorities, delegate projects and assignments, monitor progress, and communicate results. They have overall responsibility for ensuring project deadlines are met. They resolve and/or coordinate the resolution of complex and escalated pharmacy benefit issues and become actively involved with requests, research inquiries, and/or projects, as required, to meet schedules. Pharmacy Benefit Supervisors advise their staff and other departments on complex benefit set up issues and coding approaches. They review and approve coding requests and benefit design specifications. They produce staff and customer metrics to identify performance gaps and areas of strength, to set team objectives and goals, and to measure individual performance and provide constructive feedback for coaching opportunities. They create or review documentation that assists associates in performing their work, such as customer specific information, process and procedure guidance, best practices and tips, logic documents, etc. Pharmacy Benefit Supervisors make decisions regarding the management of staff according to established policies and management guidance. They complete performance evaluations, train and develop their staff, and participate in the interview and hiring process. They ensure their staff adheres to established standards and policies of the company and department.
