Job Description: B. Braun''s Summer Internship Program is designed to provide University enrolled students with a meaningful experience within the medical device industry. The students are given an opportunity to gain a valuable corporate or manufacturing learning experience through a finite project determined by each department. Projects vary from summer to summer depending on the needs of the department, and each will provide the intern with a meaningful and relevant summer assignment. Internships are a ten to twelve week commitment. A mentor will be be assigned to each intern to help guide them through their experience. Interns will be asked to present to their peers and department outlining their summer experience.
Responsibilities will include:
--independent research tasks or physical laboratory testing - assignments will be provided based on business needs at the time of employment.
--Team assignments where the student will be paired with an R&D engineer as a mentor and will sit with that engineer as he/she manages a real project within the B. Braun design controls. Tasks will be provided and can include analytical or empirical work, data manipulation, fixture design and fabrication, product conceptualization, etc.
To qualify for this position, candidates must have completed their Junior year in a 4 year college or university in a Mechanical Engineering discipline (may also consider BSBioE, ChemE, and BSEE); be able to brainstorm, research, prototype and test new, innovative ideas through feasibility; be articulate in communications with various groups. Experience with building, designing or doing creative things is highly desirable. Business savvy and general humility are great additions.
Desired: MS Office skills, Laboratory Software (Labview, etc.), Solidworks, basic analytical software (Matlan, ALGOT, Statgraphics, etc.)
