**Role Summary:**

The Field Service Technician I will provide hands-on technical and operational support of GE Reciprocating Compression equipment and supporting utility systems within customer facilities during commissioning, start-up, operations, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, performance testing, and trouble-shooting situations as required.

**Essential Responsibilities:**

In the role of Field Service Technician I you will:

+ Plan and execute site installation activities for Reciprocating Compression equipment

+ Act as the subject matter expert (SME) in the investigation and resolution of customer reported technical problems with equipment

+ Make recommendations to the customer to remediate operational or service difficulties. Provide recommended preventative maintenance procedures as requested by the customer

+ Through acceptable troubleshooting processes, diagnose and correct engine problems and / or compressor problems

+ Perform testing of equipment in the field

+ Conduct daily safety training and supervise the completion of daily safety checks and report safety concerns

+ Monitor key and critical operating variables and other process data to ensure that the engine and compressor units are operating within design parameters

+ Attend on-site operations meetings with client personnel to proactively identify issues and lead the efforts to resolve them

+ Lead on-site day to day activities

+ Learn, share, and implement best practices with extended Reciprocating Compression Engineering, Sales, and Operations team members

+ Establish and cultivate working relationships with key customer contacts including operators, engineering and maintenance personnel. Proactively manager long term and short term issues

+ Manage on-site activities leading safety and environmental reviews. FST I will be a key to successful process hazard reviews

+ Lead trouble-shooting / problem solving assistance efforts with customers, correcting or repairing the customers' equipment

+ Mentor other GE technicians in their development

+ Be able to safely deploy to remote geographic assignment locations - onshore and offshore locations with limited access to medical care, which may require 4 hours (or more) travel time to reach secondary level medical care **Qualifications/Requirements:**

+ Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university (OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum 10 years of experience in Reciprocating Compression)

+ Minimum 8 years of experience in Reciprocating CompressionEligibility Requirements:

+ Work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required

+ Work in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities

+ Be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required

+ Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

+ Be subjected to extreme heat for extended periods of time

+ Undergo Periodic fitness for duty tests, examinations, and/or certifications will be required for onshore/offshore remote location assignments

+ Travel domestic and international, as required

+ To the extent that you are applying for a position that requires you to operate a GE owned / leased or rented vehicle for company business, you must be willing to submit to a check of your driving record **Desired Characteristics:**
