**Role Summary:**

The Lead Services Mechanical Engineer will work as a design engineer leading productivity programs associated with proactive technical actions to deliver Maintenance Optimization with the goal of reducing fleet FSA cost. Additional scope will include New Products Introduction (NPI), transactional and repair efforts. You will be responsible for the mechanical design and analysis of Machine Head and/or Rotor components for production and field support, with emphasis on bolted joints.


**Essential Responsibilities:**

As the Lead Services Mechanical Engineer, you will:


+ Develop services product offerings specific to wind turbine applications within the installed fleet

+ Work with suppliers to create and/or modify component specifications

+ Work with GE service shops to develop optimized procedures and part fit ups

+ Execute deliverables in a highly cross functional environment and maintain connection across engineering segments

+ Support design / analysis documentation, e.g., Specifications, Design Practices, Bill of Materials

+ Support site failure analysis and correction, supplier qualification / deviation disposition and GE manufacturing on all technical issues related services offerings

+ Execute the design, analysis or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements

+ Participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews

+ Assure proper documentation of technical data (i.e., Maintenance Manuals, Work Desk Instructions (WDI), Temporary Work Procedures (TWP), etc.) generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks is consistent with engineering policies and procedures


**Qualifications/Requirements:**


+ Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university

+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering or technical position


**Desired Characteristics:**


+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Wind engineering position

+ VDI 2230 or similar experience on bolted joint limit calculations

+ Experience in common tools and methods for measuring bolt loading conditions

+ Experience with principles and practices of safe bolted joint assembly, including inspection and quality assurance

+ Understanding of Weibull data and statistical analysis to determine probability of failure

+ Knowledge on bolt functions, variability and materials

+ Ability to calculate bolted joints limits and determine proper torque values and validation

+ Strong engineering fundamentals, such as attention to detail, good understanding of drawings, familiarity with geometric dimensioning & tolerancing, design calculations, component system design and validation techniques

+ Experience in supplier qualifications

+ Demonstrated ability to accommodate for fast pace projects and changes in work scopes

+ Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

+ Experience problem solving in uncertain situations

+ Ability to "figure" out solutions to non-typical problems

+ Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems

+ Strong oral and written communication skills

+ Ability to work in a matrix team environment
