Job Description






The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for execution of the Bendix Supplier Quality Assurance program. The SQE will effectively manage site activities for supplier launches, transitions, and manufacturing changes. Must assure raw materials that arrive in plant comply with specification to Bendix drawings protecting production lines and customers as well. Maintain communications with suppliers to assure opportunities and corrective actions are implemented until these are found effective by creating systemic approach activities on ongoing issues.





ESSENTIAL DUTIES:






+ Ensures the flow down of product and process technical requirements to the supplier.


+ Serves as effective team member of all supplier transitions and/or manufacturing changes as needed.


+ Evaluates supplier quality systems and monitors performance to goals through metrics. May perform on-site supplier audits as needed.


+ Initiates corrective actions as necessary to address gaps in supplier performance.


+ Performs process validations as needed to support SQD.


+ Evaluates non-conforming supplied product and implements containment and corrective actions.


+ Works with suppliers to develop to improve suppliers' performance


+ Review supplier PPAP's to assure overall content is correct and within specification (Internal & On-site


+ Leads the development of receiving inspection requirements and monitors the effectiveness of this process


+ Issues Deficient Material Reports (DMRs) to suppliers.


+ Drives the completion of supplier charge-back summary for applicable quality issues.


+ Manage and review supplier corrective actions, ensuring timely closure and a comprehensive root-cause analysis are being performed to eliminate possible reocurrence.


+ Supports engineering efforts to enhance supplier cost reductions, productivity improvements, and reduce the cost of supplied quality components.


+ Provides support in developing and monitoring Process FMEAs and control plans.


+ Conducts run at rates at supplier facilities.


+ Drives the reduction of internal non-conformances in packaging assembly processes using cross functional teams and proven corrective action tools.


+ Promotes and maintains strong customer & supplier relationships.


+ Understands Critical Characteristics/Special Characteristics in terms of: controlling the characteristic using appropriate tools to ensure capability and stability of the process and product; the potential outcome if the characteristic is not in specification and the liability to the company if a defective part gets into the field.


+ Supports compliance of TS/IATF16949 certification.


+ Support PSA activities and procedures with team members.


+ Supports and adheres to the company environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.


+ Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned by the department manager







Required Skills




+ Requires a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.


+ Sound knowledge of Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) modules including PPAP, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Quality Planning & Control Plan (APQP).


+ Blue Print Interpretation and GD&T


+ CMM knowledge is a plus.


+ Requires strong knowledge of TS / IATF16949 quality standards.


+ Demonstrated experience in motivating and leading people, driving a positive work environment is required.


+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Statistical evaluation software familiarity a plus.


+ Strong analytical skills and problem solving utilizing six-sigma tools and 8D principles.


+ Strong Written and Oral communications skills, including presentations, and documentation process are required.


+ Multi-Task oriented, able to adapt to priorities changes.


+ Highly motivated, self-starter.


+ Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles is required.


+ Greenbelt/Blackbelt Certification preferred.


+ Experience in several AIAG modules required. Prefer experience in all modules.







Required Experience







+ Requires at least two years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably automotive Tier 1 or 2 is a plus.
