Department:Sunstream
 Job Status:Full Time, Year round.
 
 FLSA Status: Exempt
 Reports To:  Renewable Energy Project Manager
 
Amount of Travel Required: Significant Driving
 
 
POSITION SUMMARY
 
Solar Consultant
 
The Solar Consultant is responsible for providing potential clients with education and information about our products and services in a timely and professional manner, followed by a proposal for work, if applicable.
 
This position requires good social skills as well as efficiency and thoroughness. The incumbent must have a broadknowledge base about the products and services that SunStream offers and be able to educate the customer before providing a proposal. Once a proposal is provided, prompt follow-up with the potential client is expected.
 
Upon contract signing, the Solar Consultant will be responsible forpost sale monitoring and control of project field execution, in consultation with the Lead Project Manager.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SALES
Build trust and rapport with prospective customers.
Demonstrate uncompromising customer service.
Engineer compelling energy solutions that are GREEN and profitable.
Complete projects on time and within budget.
Deliver presentations that create a high sense of urgency to act now.
Resolve concerns and eliminate obstacles.
Follow-up on pipeline and post-sale logistics.
Generate additional revenue through networking and referrals.
Partner with cross-functional departments to accomplish mutual objectives.
Communicate and share best practices.
FIELD SERVICE AND INSTALL SUPERVISOR
Perform site visits and provide site analysis for renewable energy implementation.
Provide Project Manager with preliminary design, layout and material requirements & LIPA data.
Perform detail roof measurements &  Sun eye shade measurements.
Coordinate project staffing and schedule and delivery of materials to job sites.
Quality Assurance.
Ensure safe working practices, including;
o   The appropriate use of personal protective equipment.
o   Electrical and mechanical isolation and energizing principles and practices.
Typical tasks may include but  are not  limited to:
 
Conduct HomeSolar Consultations.
Attend company and departmentalmeetings as directed.
Participate in ongoing training, development and certifications.
 
Installations including system setup, troubleshooting, instrumentation and data communications (including internet connectivity through customer-owned firewalls).
 
Gather information for engineer to prepare plans.
 Create project folders for installers.
 
Meet with installation crews and review plan.
Collect and label serial #''s for panels and inverters.
Oversee installation crew as needed
 Put up/ remove Sunstream sign at work site.
 
 Update and maintain job status system.
 
Maintain inventory list of overage or swap- outs of inverters.
 
Research products and pricing.
Research competitors.
 
Source installers.
 
Assist with trouble shooting inverter problems.
 
Handle product returns.
 
Actively participate in industry and professional organizations.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
 
Education:High School diploma, college degree preferred.
 
Experience: Knowledge of general construction, electrical work, renewable energy, plumbing helpful. Ability to read plans and use basic tools.
Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience with basic solar design principals, electrical best practices, installation methods and operating principles and components, including DC and AC components, Inverters, and Monitoring systems.
  First-hand experience, knowledge and/or certifications in the following areas are a plus:
Medium voltage electrical systems
The National Electric Code
Shading source identification and evaluation techniques
The ability to prioritize multiple demands and tasks based on sound judgment and reasoning
NABCEP Solar PV credentials
An electrical contractor's license
 
Other Requirements: Must have reliable transportation, no driving restrictions. Must be able to travel for classes, seminars, trade shows.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software in an industrial environment; Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook.
Enthusiasm is a must, and the successful candidate will be a versatile self-starter who is willing and able to wear multiple hats without reservation.
