### Responsibilities
You will serve as Program Support Assistant for Geriatrics and Extended Care Service. Employee performs work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of data and statistical information in support of an organization's program operation. He/She is responsible for completeness, accuracy, and accessibility of data for analytical purposes. Manages databases for data entry of demographic data, provider-specific clinical data, historical data, etc.. Employee researches various publications to extract, summarize, and compile information required for the activities of the organization. Employee monitors all aspects of the operating programs and makes recommendations to improve or modify methods for disseminating information to intended audiences. Performs work related to the acquisition and/or development of program information and resource materials/personnel to support the policy development and/or technical activities of the organization. Employees play a significant role in determining the perceptions veterans have concerning the quality of VA health care services and of their individual treatment by health care providers. Employees listen to all patient feedback positive or negative and acts to resolve complaints within his or her control; report feedback to appropriate persons in a timely manner.

### Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/27/2018.
* **-TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENT**: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. **Note:**Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
* **-TYPING: 40**words per minute typing speed
* **-SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:** You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to specialized experience may have been gained performing clerical and administrative support duties including providing training to other staff regarding administrative procedures; managing and monitor an office budget; tracking and compiling data for reporting purposes; performing office automation duties using software applications such as e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, databases; composing, typing and editing letters and reports; public contact work; maintaining suspense action files to ensure deadlines are met; maintaining appointments, schedules and calendars; coordinating meetings and conferences; and, ordering and monitoring office supplies and equipment.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
**Note**: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
**Physical Requirements:**Work is generally sedentary. Typically, employees sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, small pieces of equipment and supplies, or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

**Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave**: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. VA may offer newly-appointed Federal employee's credit for their job-related non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
