Description: Product Design & Release Engineer
* Min. Bachelor''s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* Minimum 5 years of experience designing and developing automotive interior components. Experiences in air registers or kinematic components are plus.
* Understand product design and development process from concept to production.
* Comprehensive knowledge of air register design and release:
o Design: material selection, tooling feasibility, injection molding process, design for manufacturing, kinematics, GD&T, engineering disciplines (Boundary Diagram, P-Diagram, DFMEA, FMA, DVP&R).
o Attribute/Functional Targets: air flow, efforts, retention, S&R, leakage, craftsmanship, ergonomics, NVH, Surface Development, Safety, durability, cost, etc.
* Product Launch : Production validation, PPAP.
* Working knowledge in FEA, Mold Flow, and CFD.
* Understanding of GPDS/FC process and related deliverables.
* Working knowledge of program management aspect: cost (variable, investment), weight, timing and sourcing.
* Demonstrated capability of working with designers for in-house designed interior parts.
* Must be able to use CATIA V5
* Excellent communication, team building, and leadership skills.
Job duties for this position include:
* Professional position utilizing engineering education and experience to design and release air registers.
* Will be responsible for all phases of engineering activities from design concept to production.
* Will work with Design Studio and CAD designers to develop 3D CAD models which meet appearance and functional requirements.
* Will ensure designs meet tooling and manufacturing feasibility; functional / attribute / cost / weight targets; and program timing.
* Will verify designs through the Ford DV/PV process, resolving all issues in a timely manner (identify root cause, find resolution actions, etc).
* Will provide design support /issue resolution of all launch issues associated with interior air registers.
