Under the supervision of the Nursing Director, and in collaboration with the Birthing Pavilion Nurse Manager, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Clinical Educator, and Newborn Nursery Physician Director, the Birthing Pavilion Lactation Clinic Coordinator is an international board certified lactation consultant who develops and maintains the Lactation Program. The Lactation Program is an interdisciplinary approach to providing clinical care, information, instruction, and support to lactating mothers and families. The Lactation Consultant/Lactation Clinic Coordinator manages all Lactation Program operations.
The Lactation Clinic is an inpatient/outpatient service based at the Birthing Pavilion. You''ll be working side by side with an interdisciplinary team of health care providers to provide the highest levels of lactation support and promotion. At our 17-bed LDRP Unit with a total of 20 licensed beds (labor, delivery, recovery, and post partum), we deliver over 1,300 babies annually and on an average, 40% of our patients are high risk. The ideal candidate will have experience in all aspects of obstetrical care, with demonstrated expertise in lactation support and promotion. The Lactation Consultant/Lactation Clinic Coordinator provides in-depth, individual lactation assistance to mothers and families and designs and implements educational programs for nursing staff, medical staff, allied health staff and students. The Lactation consultant will provide direct clinical care and develop clinical management plans in collaboration with the parents and with other members of the health care team and facilitate other staff members to develop clinical skills in the area of lactation support and promotion. The Lactation Consultant participates in projects designed to meet and maintain requirements for the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative and develops/revises policies, education material, guidelines and education programs related to lactation support and promotion.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current NH registered nurse licensure with a minimum of 1 year of RN experience required. (BSN degree preferred)Advanced knowledge and clinical expertise in meeting the needs of breastfeeding premature and newborn infants.
Certified by International Board of Certified Lactation Consultant Examiners
Two years IBCLC practice experience.
Demonstrated ability to teach effectively.
