Job Function QUALCOMM Corporate R&D has a mission to advance core CDMA, OFDMA and other advanced wireless communication technologies. Qualcomm is the largest developer of 3G and 4G communication technology in the world. The ASIC design team delivers cutting edge modem hardware across every established wireless standards/protocol. The role of a Modem Architect is the specification of multi-technology modems. Work with Systems Engineer and modeling teams to define hardware/software partitioning, define hardware architecture of the modem, do throughput analysis to meet requirements in different modes of operation and concurrency, participate in micro architecture definition to implement the modem.
Responsibilities Individuals in this role are responsible for developing next generation cellular modems in the following technologies: GSM, CDMA, UMTS and LTE.
Skills/Experience Solid modem and ASIC design experience with understanding of various wireless technologies required. Knowledge of wireless modem architecture, micro architecture and RTL design, with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Discrete-time Signal Processing and/or Digital Communications.
Modem or high-speed DSP datapaths: digital filters, FFTs, error-correction codes, etc.
On-chip buses, crossbars, soc/noc architectures, framers/deframers and data movers, etc.
Embedded Micro-controller subsystems.
Massively parallel processors, GPUs, etc.
Hands-on ASIC design experience
Working knowledge of Matlab, C/C++, or equivalent for bit exact modeling and performance analysis is highly desirable
Knowledge of CPU and DSP architectures are desired.
Education Requirements Required: Bachelor's, Electrical Engineering
Preferred: Master's, Electrical Engineering
