Job Description The WPP Blended Team Consumer Leader position directs all agency resources in the US around consumer media engagement. It includes leading a central team of individuals within Ogilvy PR, as well as work closely with WPP's extended agencies.
The WPP blended team model is not a typical agency-client arrangement, with the agency teams being fully integrated with the client in a seamless manner. Each side brings a unique perspective to the table, and working hand-in-hand, the blended team jointly executes against the accounts communications plan with shared accountability.
The WPP leader is expected to provide daily strategic advice and support to the account''s leadership team, while at the same time assuring operational and integration excellence across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of professional experience with a broad understanding of public relations and in-depth knowledge of media relations. The ideal candidate will also have an established track record in developing and executing consumer-brand earned media campaigns, previous experience in leading client relationships, strong strategic skills as well as the ability to execute at a tactical level. The leader is expected to be visible, engaged, energized and available across what is a fairly large and decentralized organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
.Develop comprehensive consumer-focused communications strategies and plans for a variety of programs and vehicle launches
.Supervise the teams and allocate resources to implement plans
.Oversee day-to-day projects, launches and/or events to ensure the quality of the communication efforts meets the clients communications objectives and standards
.Project management: Provide the client with accurate and timely briefs on projects and evaluate delivery
.Measurement: Oversee measurement reports, including monitoring and activity reports
.Ensure message alignment
.Seek opportunities among all consumer media
.Handle tier one media opportunities
.Review materials (e.g. pitch letters, news releases, backgrounders, fact sheets, bios, newsletters)
.Develop materials on complex issues (e.g. Q&A, speeches and collateral materials)
.Maintain clear and consistent communication between the client, other partner agencies, its own team
Financial/Administrative
.Manages overall financial performance of accounts or business unit.
.Leads efforts to develop and achieve company revenue and profitability projections.
.When necessary and appropriate, intervenes with account teams and clients to address financial and billing issues.
Business Development
.Identifies and develops new business opportunities.
.Leads or otherwise participates fully in office/firm new business efforts.
.Valued as a routine contributor of informed, analytical and strategic contributions to new program development.
People Management
.Leads company efforts to recruit, hire, train and develop staff.
.Manages overall performance assessment, training and development of relevant staff.
.Conducts appraisals and career development counseling for direct reports.
.Manages staff to maximize performance and productivity.
Initiative and General Management
.Manages all agency resources to maximize performance, productivity and profitability.
.Routinely invests in building agency accounts, capacities and resources.
.Works with managing director to identify and realize training, leadership and career development needs and opportunities.
.Continually seeks new ways to learn, improve and contribute.
