Position Summary:We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Finance Grants Manager.In this role, the Post Award Grant Manager serves as a member of the Reporting & Grants Management Team, and is responsible for the monitoring and review of financial reports and grants management oversight as related to sponsor reporting deliverables for NYUSOM including expertise Training and Fellowship grants. This includes, but is not limited to sponsored projects management, research accounting and sponsor reporting. This position will not include management of people, but projects. The Post Award Grant Manager will also provide operational support to the Assistant Director as needed.


Job Responsibilities:



+ Financial Controls and Compliance:Perform work within the established goals and objectives for Research Financial Operations:Research project expenses are managed within budget, per sponsor contracts and in a timely manner. Monthly financial close is accurate and timely. All sponsors financial contract terms are met. All projects granted and contracted funds are collected in a timely manner. The A-133 audit and the PWC annual audit with no material findings


+ Quality Control (Improving Business Processes):Follows all SLAs and Procedures and assists in cross-training for staff. Exceptions are managed and resolved. Root cause analyses are preformed when appropriate. Practices Continuous Improvement.


+ Monitoring, Quality Control, Reporting and Record Keeping:Assists Assistant Director in developing exception reporting, performs routine quality control. Maintains an accessible electronic final copy of all external formal submissions and/or internally published reports, trainee schedules, etc.Provides guidance and departmental support related to the management and monitoring of sponsored program grants.


+ Proposes and assists in process improvements and implementation of new business plans and efficiencies to overall Grant Management process.

+ Provide guidance and technical training to Research Community, Associate, Financial and Senior Financial Analysts as needed and appropriate.


+ Ensures the completion of new budget periods, maintains budget modifications and project extensions so that annual financial information is accurate and up-to-date.


+ Ensures the proper review of the award agreements for all grants, contracts, subcontracts and clinical trials within PeopleSoft from appropriate source documentation.


+ Review and provide guidance for FSR and invoice submission to sponsors; completing final submission to sponsor based on preparation and final review by Post Award Leads, Sr. FAs and FAs.


+ Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with staff to assess workload, accomplishments and needed areas of improvement.


+ Liaises with other departments within Finance Operation, Research, and Sponsored Program Administration (SPA) to coordinate post-award processes. Meet weekly and as needed to proactively plan and coordinate activities related to subcontracts, PIs transfers, relinquishment statements, fund returns and submission to federal agencies of trainees and fellows termination notices on all training grants and fellowships.


+ Liaises with departments to appropriately account for and report expenses.


+ Liaises with sponsors for grant award clarifications and/or financial reporting inquiries.


+ Liaises with other departments within Research Financial Operations, Research Mission and Sponsored Program Administration (SPA) to coordinate post-award processes.


+ Manages external financial reporting on numerous grant accounts and program subaccounts for the full life cycle of research, including proposal generation, transitioning proposals into awards, award tracking, facilities and administration processing, comprehensive bill generation, and most importantly - flexible financial reporting.



Minimum Qualifications:To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree in business, finance or other appropriate discipline with at least 5-8 years of relevant financial and grants management experience, or a combination of comparable education and experience. The Grant Manager must have a comprehensive understanding of research administration with In-depth knowledge of OMB Circulars (A110, A-21, A-133) and other research regulatory requirements, specifically the Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards.


Preferred Qualifications:Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Enterprise Systems. PeopleSoft or Oracle preferred.
