Job Requirements:Five years in-depth work experience in the field of a Power Generation or related industries required. Duties include, but not limited to work experience in facilities such as fossil/nuclear power plants, industrial plants, steam boiler/engine rooms, oil refineries, combustion turbine facilities, ship yards, airline maintenance facilities, etc. Significant experience working on various types of mechanical equipment is required. Candidate must have basic knowledge of PC computer systems.
An Associate Applied Science technical degree or equivalent is desirable. Experience in maintaining, repairing and installing power piping systems, associated valves, tanks and vessels and various types of rotating mechanical equipment such as fans, blowers, pumps, motors, etc. is required. All applicants must know how to use various field power tools and precision measuring equipment. A basic working knowledge is required in the following areas: confined space entry, basic pumps, coupling alignment, bearing maintenance, pipe fitting, oxy-acetylene torch cutting, rigging, scaffolding, mechanical drawing, boiler tube repair, math and industrial safety.
In addition, a basic working knowledge in the following areas of expertise is preferred: machine shop, conduit bending, basic electricity, skyclimber/hanging platforms, crane operation and welding (GTAW, SMAW).
Estimate manpower resources, materials, special tools and equipment required to perform corrective and preventative maintenance of power plant equipment and piping systems. Develop job plans as required to complete each job in an effective and timely manner. Candidate will originate purchase and class/stock orders and will follow up on the status of those orders. Assure that all work orders and equipment history are entered in the required computer systems. Consult and review technical manuals, instruction books, prints, sketches, manufacturer''s catalogs, equipment history records and other references for specifications and performance information to assist in planning process. Identify spare parts and equipment located in various storerooms for use in field repairs. Work with EH&S, Engineering and other Departments, as necessary, to gather information to be used in Job Plans. May perform special job related assignments and studies as required. Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:The selected candidate must be able to perform heavy manual labor (push, pull and lift 45-60 lbs.) and to do extensive walking, standing and climbing. Candidate must be willing to work in a physically demanding work environment (i.e., work in all weather conditions, in confined spaces and in hot and cold ambient temperatures). Candidate must be clean shaven and medically approved to wear a respirator to include fit testing for 1/2 face, full face and SCBA respirator use. Must possess and maintain a valid driver''s license. This position may involve working back shifts, overtime and weekends as required to support station operation.
