World Vision is seeking a talented Associate Editor, Mobile Newsto provide editorial lineup, editing, and content for World Vision''s mobile news app tracking up-to-the-second breaking news and other trending stories. Developing, writing and editing material for publication(s), ensuring that it meets standards and helps carry out our Christian organization’s mission, vision, and strategies. Personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word and sign.
Responsiblities include:

Keep Christ central in our individual and corporate lives. Attend and participate in the leadership of devotions, weekly Chapel services, and regular prayer.

Write and edit compelling story packages, demonstrated through story choice, writing style, and headline writing for World Vision''s mobile news app and news content distributed across the organization, communicating World Vision''s programs, as well as, to encourage the reader''s involvement.

Publish content online in a daily publishing environment utilizing various Web tools.
*
Utilize news judgment and knowledge of current events, breaking news and other trending stories, staying abreast on World Vision''s programs and campaigns to support organizational efforts.
*
Proofread articles ensuring not only correct spelling and grammar usage, but also accuracy of content.
*
Research and verify publication content and conduct interviews to support stories.
*
Participate in planning meetings regarding publication content.
*
Work collaboratively with close-knit editorial team.
*
Perform other duties as assigned.
*
Keep informed of organizational announcements, activities and changes via regular reading of the WVUS Intranet and other corporate communication tools.
Required Experience
Bachelor''s degree or equivalent work experience (eight years). Work experience in writing and editing; 3-5 years.
Prefer a candidate with the following experience:
* Journalism background/degree preferred.
* Previous news experience, in a daily publishing environment.
* Strong news judgment, knowledge of current events and excellent headline writing skills a must.
* Experience with web-based publishing/familiarity with CMS.
* Experience with various web tools including Photoshop and basic understanding of XML, HTML, RSS and ability to manipulate code in a standard editing interface.
