Principal Instructional Designer

The Instructional Designer will produce the courseware to support the training programs defined by Program Managers. This includes conducting needs assessments to identify strategically aligned learning and development initiatives, designing and developing training courseware in a variety of delivery modes (e.g., instructor led training, self-paced training, virtual, blended), managing external vendors to collaborate in content creation, as well as providing input on measures regarding business impact and effectiveness of deployed learning solutions.
Creates courseware design, development, and deployment strategy for world class blended learning programs that are experiential, drive behavior change and increase performance within our global Sales business units. Develop learning curricula that align with learning and performance strategies. Manages the design and execution of junior staff creating courseware. Build and maintain valued relationship with key internal and external stakeholders. Develop assessment approaches that conform to global accreditation strategies and processes. Evaluate the business impact of learning programs through use of learning and performance metrics.
Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Recognized as a subject-matter expert within Oracle. Typically 8 plus years relevant experience in Sales and Sales Enablement plus knowledge in the Applications, Technology or Hardware sectors is needed. Coaching and Project Management experience across a variety of delivery mediums. Deep experience designing and developing learning programs across delivery mediums (mobile learning, e-learning, virtual learning, live simulation, and live classroom). Proficient in establishing learning and performance metrics and measurements (ROI and Benchmarking). Strong in building relationships and maintaining relationships. Experience in analyzing business needs and selling value to customers. Previous project/program management experience. Experience delivering facilitation, training, coaching and/or development of learning programs. Self starter with high energy, drive, enthusiasm, initiative, and commitment. Excellent communication, facilitation and persuasive skills, both written and verbal. Ability to build strong relationships and navigate through senior stakeholder discussions. Experience leveraging standard eLearning tools and web-based meeting tools. Team player. Leadership skills. Business travel of up to 30 percent annually may be expected of this position. Knowledge of Instructional design authoring tools preferred. Fluency in English, working knowledge of other languages is an asset. Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.

Principal Instructional Designer Global Sales Enablement
The Oracle Sales and Partner Academy (OSPA) is a high-growth, fast-paced, global organization responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-impact learning solutions to enable modern selling for Oracle s global sales force. OSPA Global Sales Onboarding team is looking for a passionate Instructional Designer to participate in assessing, defining and developing learning solutions to address defined learning and performance needs across Oracle s broad and diverse global sales organizations.
The Instructional Designer will produce dynamic and highly interactive courseware to support the enablement and training programs defined by the business, program managers and our performance partners. This includes conducting needs assessments, designing and developing training courseware in a variety of delivery modes (e.g., instructor led training, self-paced training, virtual, blended), performing train the trainer sessions, measurement and process improvement. The Instructional Designer will also work with various cross-functional teams to ensure that our learning solutions are informed and aligned with business needs.
The ideal candidate will have an experienced instructional designer with many years experience designing and developing enablement for sales teams on a global scale, extensive expertise in instructional design, including production of scalable learning solutions, a high degree of creativity and problem solving and project management. Candidates must have a passion for the value of placing the learner s experience at the center of their design process while at the same time keep a focus on enabling results-based assessment of expected behaviors aligned to business needs.
The candidate will be part of a fast-paced team enabling Oracle s sales professional new hire journey on a global basis. The candidate will support high-performing sales professionals and be required to identify how to design, develop, and implement manager reinforcement and coaching. The candidate must be self-starter with high energy, be able to operate with minimal direction and within tight timelines, and must possess enthusiasm, initiative, and commitment. Any candidate must demonstrate both written and verbal communication excellence, be an accomplished facilitator when necessary, and have a high degree of persuasive skills and have the ability to build strong relationships and navigate through senior stakeholder discussions and broad sets of subjects matter experts on a global basis.
Required Skills
Perform training and enablement needs analysis, scope projects, identify requirements and evaluate and articulate potential approaches which meet the needs of the learning and enablement requests
Assess, compare, and rationalize existing resources, courses, and content to identify applicability to current requests and define gaps necessary for development
Quickly build work-back and/or level of effort estimates identifying delivery timelines to include analysis, alpha gold development and review cycles, and publication and implementation cycles
Manage and lead development efforts and projects across a broad set of stakeholders and subject matter experts completing projects within defined ATD development timelines or faster
Design and develop creative training programs, modules, and materials in multiple modalities, including synchronous remote learning methodologies, blended classroom learning, interactive e-learning modules, videos, infographics and facilitator guides
Collaborate with a global training team as well as subject matter experts (SMEs) to support various program and project initiatives
Develop assessment strategies that conform to Oracle Sales and Partner Academy accreditation standards and processes
Support the evaluation of individual classroom modules and courses, as well as instructional programs
Manage complex relationships with OD stakeholders in an environment with short deadlines and high business impact
Effectively manage cross-functional projects from initiation to implementation, to evaluation, and retirement
Role requires 25% travel
Minimum qualification
Bachelor s Degree or equivalent experience
8 years of instructional design experience/background. 12 years experience preferred.
Experience in a Sales role and with Sales Enablement plus knowledge of the SaaS, PaaS, IaaS and Technology or Hardware sectors
Mastery of sales skills, sales methodologies, go-to market strategies, onboarding and continuous learning models
Knowledge and proven application of instructional design and assessment theories and adult learning principles in multi-modal instruction
Experience publishing content to learning and content management systems and experience with instructional development software including Adobe, Captivate, Camtasia, Lectora, etc.
Experience producing a variety of instructional media including instructor-led, eLearning, blended, formal and informal performance support, mobile and virtual instructor-led training
Ability to communicate with a variety of audiences and engage and influence stakeholders
Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic and changing environment
Preferred qualification
Experience/background with Oracle products and services, Cloud Computing and Technology
Inside or Field Sales experience as a sales manager, sales representative, or pre-sales consultant
Facilitation and/or teaching experience
