12-hour shift: 7:00 pm – 7:00 am, with weekend requirements
Qualifications
* High School Diploma or equivalent required
* Completion of a Nursing Assistant training course required
* Current CPR certification required
* One (1) year recent Nursing Assistant experience required; Acute Care experience preferred
* Able to work in a team setting, take direction and perform technical duties of a Nursing Assistant required
* Effective interpersonal verbal and written communication skills required
Summary
The Nursing Assistant will perform patient care activities, treatments, and services. Adhere to aseptic technique and universal precautions. Consider the age, cultural, psychosocial and physical needs of patients when providing care. Prepare patient room/gurneys/chair prior to admission/visit. Orients patient/family to the facility/room. Ensures documentation and proper disposition of patient belongings/valuables. Assists with positioning, ambulation, transporting, transferring and/or discharging of patients. Answers patient call lights and/or responds to patient requests for assistance per department standard. Provides explanation to patient/family prior to administering care and answers questions. The ideal candidate will promote team work, provide compassionate competent care work and function independently on the progressive care unit.
4-East is a 41-bed Surgical-Cardiac Progressive Care Unit. We are a dynamic group of nurses and medical professionals who are committed to providing the highest quality of care and respect to a culturally diverse patient population with the use of evidence-based practice. We care for a variety of patients from post cardiac Interventional and pre-op coronary artery bypass patients to postsurgical/medical patients that require cardiac monitoring. We are the specialty floor for CAPD, peripheral ultrafiltration (PUF), surgical flap for reconstructive surgery, limited drug therapy Research and Information System Innovations. The teamwork on our unit is achieved through a diverse staff, which includes new graduates as well as staff that have over 30 years of experience. The leadership team is dedicated to mentoring staff to achieve their professional goals, fostering collegial physician/nurse relationship and supporting the staff to achieve positive patient experiences.
