Description:
Cargill Dressings, Sauces & Oils refines vegetable and tropical oils and animal fat for a wide range of food and nonfood manufacturers. We also make shortenings, frying oils, mayonnaise, dressings, and sauces for the foodservice industry.
The business operates eight oil refineries, six shortening and oil packaging plants, a mayonnaise production facility, a dressings plant and a culinary sauce facility, all of which are located in the United States. We also operate an edible oil refinery in Mexico.
Customers include major food manufacturers and quick-service and casual-dining restaurant chains. Dressings Sauces & Oils is integrated with Cargill''s soybean crushing activities, which provide a reliable source of crude soybean oil for further processing.
Position Overview
Repairs, maintains, and installs various types of equipment, including, but not limited to, packaging equipment, liquid handling systems, and electrical equipment, such as, but not limited to, motor control equipment, control panels, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), solenoid valves, alarm systems, personnel and food safety monitoring systems, lighting, electric heat tracing, etc. In addition, purchase and maintain replacement parts, inventory, etc., for both regular and special purchase items. Three employees hold this job position. One employee regularly starts at 5:30 a.m., one employee regularly starts at 7:30 a.m. and the third employee regularly starts at 2:30 p.m. This job position does not have any supervisory duties. The Maintenance Mechanic should follow all Cargill's written safety policies, health policies, and guiding principles.
Timecard: Maintenance Mechanic must clock in at the beginning of his/her shift, clock out before lunch if leaving the facility, clock back in after lunch if returning, and clock out at the end of his/her shift. He/she should clock in only when he/she is changed and ready to report for work immediately.
Work Attire: Maintenance Mechanic must wear steel-toed safety shoes or boots, safety glasses, and a hard hat. If performing electrical work, safety boots without steel may be worn. He/she will also regularly use gloves, hearing protection if needed, and food safety equipment, which may include hairnets, beardnets, and appropriate dress (i.e. Cargill provided uniforms). Jewelry of any kind may not be worn while in the packaging area.
Principal Accountabilities
35% Troubleshoots machinery and automation failures as necessary. This includes, but is not limited to, case erector, filler, palletizer, conveyors, motor control devices, such as magnetic starters, control panels, PLC's; input sensing devices, such as limit switches, photo sensors, level sensors, etc.; other output devices, such as solenoid valves, indicators, alarms, etc. May require a possible call in.
15% Engineer and/or assist in installation of new or upgraded equipment and machinery, such as conduit, wiring, power distribution, machine controls, machine automation, motors, counters, lighting, heat tracing, etc. Performs maintenance and maintains documentation on all. May design and implement PLC logic programming and modify existing PLC logic programming as needed.
Relocation will not be provided for this position.
Required
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three years related maintenance experience and/or training
* General knowledge or understanding of electrical
* Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to read and understand all safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
* Ability to complete basic mathematical computations
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions
* To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a basic knowledge of computers. Further training will be provided on the job
* Extensive hand tool use and applications knowledge
* Must be able to work second and/or third shift
* Must be able to work long hours when required, often without advanced notification
