Position Description Intalco Works in Ferndale, Washington is a primary aluminum smelter facility which began operations in 1966. Today, Alcoa is the sole owner of the plant, which employs around 530 people. Intalco Works uses clean, renewable hydro power, which has made it one of Alcoa''s most energy efficiency plants in the U.S.
This position is accountable for providing process and technical assistance in the Electrode area. The incumbent will provide process control and engineering expertise for operational raw materials and equipment in the manufacture of anodes for aluminum production. The incumbent will also provide guidance, coaching, and technical assistance to supervisors and operators in the Electrode department. Key challenges will include influencing the rate of change in: continuous improvement to the process of producing anodes to enable the achievement of overall objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), technology and best practice transfers from benchmark facilities, implementation of ABS principles into the smelting operations, and integrating process control with safety performance to achieve and injury-free workplace. Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor''s of Science in a technical discipline
* 5 years experience minimum as a Process Engineer in a heavy manufacturing/industrial environment
* 1-3 years experience with SPC and Lean Manufacturing techniques or the equivalent in University classroom training, class project experience or internship(s) Preferred Qualifications
* Carbon Plant or Electrode experience a plus
* Bachelor''s degree preference would be Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering
