Job Description: Raytheon TechnicalServices Company is seeking a Sr. Systems Support Technician (LG-11) for work located onboard the USNS Howard Lorenzen T-AGM-25. The job is to perform operations and maintenance tasks in support of Radar and radar auxiliary systems. The position requires personnel to live and work onboard an USNS ship that will operate in/out of US Ports for the first couple of months and then be deployed to the Pacific Theater. The ship has no designated home port. Berthing and meals are provided. This job includes up to four paid trips for vacation each year. This position is onboard a ship and requires passing a maritime medical physical.
The technician will report directly to engineering lead and/or the Ships Operations Manager (SOM). The technician will also work with other technicians and engineers on ancillary radar systems and equipment. Perform other duties as required. This position is represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).
The job involves performing operation and maintenance on pumps, motors, gear boxes, electro-mechanical equipment/devices, piping/plumbing systems, electric/hydraulic motors, etc. Operate and maintain specialized electro-mechanical, hydraulic, pumping, cooling and lubricating systems. Analyze equipment failures to determine cause and recommend corrective action. Measure & monitor flow rates, temperatures, pressures, and other system indications of the Liquid Conditioning Cooling Systems (LCCS) to establish and verify performance and to localize faults. Devise and implement preventive maintenance programs and keep performance and maintenance records on equipment.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
* Existing investigation that will support a final DoD Secret Security Clearance.
* Experience operating and maintaining high volume liquid circulation cooling systems.
* Experience operating and maintaining pumps, circulators, plumbing systems, piping, hoses, manifolds, valves, flow switches, cooling control systems, and heat exchange structures.
* Experience in assessing the performance of liquid cooling systems, as well as in monitoring, troubleshooting, isolating failures, and removing/replacing failed components in such systems.
* Ability to read and understand design drawings, specifications, and vendor technical documentation related to high volume liquid circulation cooling systems.
* Extensive knowledge of operation and maintenance of electro-mechanical systems, hydraulic motors, highly complex gearboxes, wave guide pressurization systems, specifically compressors, dehydrators, air handling units, etc.
* General computer experience with basic knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
* In depth experience with corrosion control processes and procedures.
* Ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written formats regarding technical issues.
* Must be physically and mentally capable of climbing and performing work at heights.
* Must meet the requirements of a Maritime service physical examination.
Required Education (including Major): Mechanical AA/AS; Technical or trade school or equivalent apprenticeship training desired. Military experience can substitute for education. Marine Electrial credential equeal to or greater to Navy/CG EM3 "A"School. EPA 608 Universal refer Certification.
