Night Shift
Responsible and accountable for providing leadership, coordination and management of personnel and assumes responsibility for hospital administrative functions from 3 p.m. - 7 a.m. Monday through Friday and 24 hours on weekends and holidays. Must be visible and available to clinical areas within all areas of patient care. Interprets administrative/departmental policy and procedures for all personnel. Responsibilities include administrative liaison, clinical resource, and role model for staff. Responsible for keeping the Administrator on call informed of any hospital operations issues / concerns.

Job Description Details:**

+ Directs, organizes, plans and coordinates overall activities of the Hospital involving a high degree of judgement, initiative and leadership including the ability to anticipate and positively react to technical, organizational and administrative issues.

+ Facilitates the placement of patients by participating in the bed management team and serving as an administrative admission liaison.

+ Maintains efficient utilization of nursing resources; making staffing adjustments based on census and acuity; monitors and approves overtime usage.

+ Assists in the resolution of issues relating to physicians, patients, families and staff and performs investigations pertaining to incidents /occurrences during their shift as well as reporting to Administrator on call.

+ Assists in analyzing services to improve quality of patient care and ensures continuous delivery of quality patient care within all Nursing units.

+ Collaborates with the Director/ Nurse Managers on the evaluation processes for staff as well as any labor relations relation issues/ concerns during their shift.

+ Interacts collaboratively with all departmental managers in the provision of coordinated patient care services.

+ Shares knowledge with all levels of staff and facilitates their professional growth through leadership behavior, role modeling and mentoring.

+ Ensures that a safe environment for all patients, visitors and hospital personnel is maintained and takes corrective action when necessary.

+ Disseminates information and facilitates conversation with staff on organizational/department changes, projects, etc.

+ Facilitates the problem-solving process by guiding, counseling, teaching and assisting hospital personnel.

+ Participates in departmental and organizational committees.

+ Ensures operational functioning of the hospital during non-business hours.

+ Frequently consults with Directors/Administrators regarding Program specific details and hospital operations.

+ Acts as a public relations person for the organization.

+ Maintains patient confidentiality and communicates in a professional manner at all times.


+ Currently registered as a nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

+ BSN preferred.

+ CPR, BLS and CPI required.

+ 3-5 years demonstrated clinical experience in a Behavioral Health setting.

+ Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.


+ Regular and routine exposure to a variety of unpleasant physical working conditions, and frequent exposure to injury or occupational or contagious disease hazards, which require routine precautions. Jobs at this level spend the majority of time in the environment.

+ Constant work demands and irregularity of hours create considerable inconvenience for home and social life planning, such as frequent availability, or, constant shift rotation, or location imposes frequent interruptions, and distractions that are both bothersome and not inherent in the work. The work requires frequent substantive involvement in stressful situations causing considerable strain routinely.

+ Requires considerable physical effort on a consistent basis as in lifting, pulling, or pushing unyielding loads (heavy, bulky, awkward, more than 40 pounds).
