The Buyer is responsible for various buying and inventory management activities to ensure efficient and effective response to internal and external customer requirements.
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: Maintain consistent and accurate purchasing and pricing data. Replenish materials from suppliers based upon the requirements of individual branches. Maintains inventory availability while minimizing working capital investment through active inventory management.Follow up with suppliers regarding order status and delivery and communicate delivery information to various departments.Develops a thorough understanding of the market and conditions affecting cost and material availability.Builds and maintains a strong working relationship with sales/branch management, buyers and key suppliers.Accountable for key deliverables associated with procurement processes.Performs other duties as required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of commonly used purchasing and inventory concepts, practices, and procedures in the datacom industry. Proficient in using PC based purchasing and inventory management systems, programs and reports.Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals to perform a variety of tasks. Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work well in an aggressively growing organization, adapt well to change and assume a leadership role in absence of management. Complete understanding of Business Performance Measurements.Strong negotiation, data analysis and problem solving skills.Works under general supervision and typically reports to a manager.EXPERIENCEA Bachelor-Ts degree and 1 year experience in purchasing or supply management or an Associates degree and 3 years experience in purchasing or supply management
