Responsible for facilitating the improvement in the overall quality and completeness of medical record documentation. Obtains appropriate clinical documentation through appropriate interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other patient care givers, and Health Information Management/Medical Records. coding staff. Ensure that appropriate reimbursement is received for the level of services rendered to patients. On an ongoing basis educates all members of the patient care team on documentation guidelines. The Clinical Documentation Specialist exhibits a thorough knowledge of the growth and developmental needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Two years of recent Clinical Nursing experience is preferred. Associates degree in Nursing or Health Information Management, Bachelors preferred but not required.
