Knowledge Engineering Ontologist, Global Platform Engineer

We are searching for a knowledge engineer who is passionate about applying the latest technologies to deliver the next generation of expert solutions. You should be willing to take on challenges of unknown dimensions across different domains, and work hand in hand with subject matter expert, product leaders, customers, and developers. You will need to have very strong modeling and technical skills and desire to apply them to the delivery of production solutions.

Reporting to the Content Integration Manager, this role is part of the Information Solutions and Advanced Technology team. The team is part of Global Platform Organization (GPO), a corporate level team providing advanced technology capabilities globally for Wolters Kluwer and is critical to driving effective innovation.


* Engage with teams across Wolters Kluwer to deliver solutions that enhance research, workflow and editorial efficiency for products by applying content enrichment using the corporate knowledge model and automation tools

* Identify gaps in the knowledge that can be represented by the corporate upper ontology and drive its evolution

* Engage with teams across Wolters Kluwer to develop extensions to the upper ontology for domain specific applications consistent with corporate knowledge representation and automated tooling

* Work closely with development groups to define knowledge models for content enrichment and support automation using the GPO AI Services for NLP and machine learning

* Be an expert on the SME tools for vocabulary development, NLP testing and provide training on the tools

* Support the development of testing and maintenance for deployed enrichment solutions

* Contribute to data integration and mapping efforts to harmonize knowledge organization systems across multiple domains

* Work effectively with technology groups in the creation / adoption of an enterprise knowledge graph

* Communicate and advocate the value of the corporate knowledge model to different stakeholders

* Monitor trends in knowledge engineering that can apply to current / future solutions



* Strongly Prefer Master degree in engineering, computer science, information science or linguistic

* Bachelor's Degree Required or equivalent


* Has 3- 5+ years experience developing or using data schemas in applications

* Has 2-3+ years experience developing or using knowledge organization systems; such as controlled vocabularies, taxonomies

* Has 2-3+ years experience developing or using knowledge models based on W3C standards (RDF, OWI, SKOS, etc)

* Has 1+ year experience integrating ontologies; such as Dublin Core, FRBR, FOAF, etc

* Has 1+ year experience integrating linked data sets in application

* Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills

* Absract thinker with the ability to conceptualize or generalize, and apply the corporate knowledge model to solve business problems in different domains

* Experience in adoption of knowledge models to the legal, accounting or health domains is desirable


The following is highly desired, but not required:

* Experience in adoption of knowledge models to the legal, accounting or health domains is desirable

* Experience in programming Python and/or Java for content or data preparation for knowledge modeling experiments
